Problems With Recalled Children's Jewelry

According to information released by Playmates Toys there are no reports of injury or death from this toy. Lead poisoning may not show health symptoms until years later so the Playmates Toys has taken necessary steps to reduce future safety risks.

The metal binder used to attach the charm contains lead levels that exceed the federal standard's limit. Children could become exposed to lead either by inhaling the metal in the air or through ingestion if the charm is placed in the mouth. Excessive lead in the human body can result in brain damage and kidney failure.
